【Purpose/significance】 Combined with the spirit of the 20th National Congress Report, we will explore how to position, plan

and develop the construction of China's emergency information work in the new era.【Method/process】 This paper gives a brief over⁃view of the development of emergency management system in national security system and capacity, identifies the importance of emer⁃gency information empowering emergency management, and summarizes the research status of emergency information work in China.It also discusses the opportunities and practical challenges of emergency information work on the road of Chinese modernization, and finally puts forward some suggestions on the modernization of emergency information work system and capability.【Result/conclusion】We should strengthen the top-level design of emergency information work system with Chinese characteristics. A big emergency infor⁃mation work mode integrating technology and humanity should be formed under the overall emergency framework. The construction of independent knowledge system, personnel training and capacity evaluation mechanism should be promoted to enhance the capacity building of emergency information work.【Innovation/limitation】 It discusses the opportunities, challenges and suggestions of the mod⁃ernization of emergency information system and capacity from the national strategic level. However, it needs to be further discussed by refining specific problems from the practical level.
