【Purpose/significance】This research aims to explore the characteristics and rules of academic information seeking behav⁃

iors of graduate students under multi-dimensional combination task types.【Method/process】The study designed five kinds of tasks with different task stages, task attributes, and task objective clarity to conduct experiments. In the experiment, the data was collected by a combination of screen recording and questionnaires.【Result/conclusion】The analysis of user behavior data found that the task type has a significant impact on 14 behavioral variables, including time to complete the task, the number of queries, average query length, main query methods, and query complexity in the academic information seeking behavior. Based on this, it provides some refer⁃ence for the service optimization of academic information search system and the behavior data selection to identify user tasks based on user behavior analysis.【Innovation/limitation】The research designs multi-dimensional combination task types to explore the influ⁃ence on the academic information seeking behavior of graduate students, so as to explore this problem in a more comprehensive and in-depth way. However, there are only a few research samples. In the future, the size and representativeness of research samples should be further increased and the construction of task identification system of academic information seeking system should be further explored.
