Abstract:To research the condition of soil erosion in upper reaches of the Yangtze River and the effects on it by correlative soil characteristics, the soil erosion ratio and its quantitative relation with soil organic matter content, stability of soil aggregates, and saturated soil infiltration rate were calculated. The indirect indexes(of soil) erosion showed that soil erosion ratio was low under sub-alpine forests and which was higher under hilly artificial forests. The quantitative analysis showed that soil organic matter content, stability of soil aggregates, and saturated soil infiltration rate were main factors influencing soil erosion ratio with both correlate coefficients and regression analysis through the most significant test at level 0.01.
