Abstract: 【Purpose/significance】Universities are the gathering points and hotspots of online public opinion. The guidance and gover⁃nance of public opinion is conducive to preventing and resolving risks in the ideological field, building social consensus, and building the ideological cornerstone of social identity.【Method/process】Through the method of social network analysis, this paper conducts a visual analysis of the literature on university network public opinion research from 2007 to 2020, explains the progress of university network public opinion research from the aspects of time distribution, main research force distribution, and analysis of highly cited documents. Through the nominal terms of citing documents, high-frequency keyword knowledge map, cluster analysis, etc., the hot top⁃ics and frontier trends of college network public opinion research are obtained.【Result/conclusion】The dissemination mechanism,risk assessment and early warning mechanism of university network public opinion, public opinion guidance mechanism, image resto⁃ration and bridging path of public opinion governance, transformation of public opinion narrative mode and college public opinion re⁃sponse mechanism, and crisis response mechanism for major public opinion events, etc., are the important trends of future research topics.【Innovation/limitation】This paper reflects the dynamic picture of domestic scholars' research on network public opinion in col⁃leges and universities, but the data source is only the literature collected by CNKI, which is difficult to show the whole picture of net⁃work public opinion research in colleges and universities.
