Abstract: 【Purpose/significance】To explore the transmission mechanism of high-heat and low-heat internet rumors under the COV?
ID-19 epidemic, and provide a reference for the government as well as the public to respond to the spread of rumors in public health
emergencies and develop appropriate rumor resolution measures.【Method/process】13 well-developed rumors under the COVID-19
epidemic are taken as research cases. Four antecedents, namely event attribute, channel characteristic, user sentiment, time to refute
rumors, and the result variable, namely, the heat of rumors, are extracted, and analyzed by fsQCA.【Result/conclusion】Through the
fsQCA3.0 software, a total of 2 high-heat rumor configurations of CO1 high-heat rapid increase and decrease type and CO2 high-heat
authoritative continuous type are generated. Simultaneously generate two low-heat rumor configurations of CO3 low-heat long-term
continuous type and CO4 low-heat fast "self-end rumors" type.【Innovation/limitation】This article classifies high and low heat config?
uration according to the rumors under the COVID-19 epidemic, and has a certain degree of innovation in research objects and re?
search methods. However, the number of rumors and variables included in the current research is relatively small, and there may be
other important configurations that cannot be covered. In the future, more rumors cases can be included for conclusive research in com? bination with the mature rumors system under the COVID-19 epidemic.
