Research on the Application of Archives of Musical Intangible Cultural Heritage——Based on the Relationship between Inheritance and Communication

Abstract: Archiving is one of the important ways to protect the Musical Intangible Cultural Heritage (MICH). However, at present, many archival practices of MICH are confused in terms of inheritance and dissemination. In order to clarify the relationship between these two terms and better guide the archiving practices for effective MICH inheritance and protection, this paper sorts out the application layout of MICH archives. Aiming at the current status of the application of MICH archives, it puts forward four misunderstandings existing in current related literatures: 1) considering raising social awareness as a MICH inheritance approach; 2) understanding the exploitation of archives as providing public cultural services; 3) thinking of mainstreaming as a design idea for MICH archives; 4) thinking of digitalization as the outlet for integrating MICH archives. In view of the above-mentioned misunderstandings, corresponding suggestions are put forward from the aspects of value positioning, work focus, design ideas, and development reflection in the digital environment.
