Abstract:Wenchuan Earthquake on May 12th,2008 brought not only tremendous losses of people's lives and fortunes, but also induced lots of sub-disasters threatening human's lives and treasures.Gansu Province was the second worst damaged province followed Sichuan Province. In Gansu province, the silt dams had different degrees of damages. In order to find dangerous cases as soon as possible, ensure the safety of silt dams during flood season and avoid the occurrence of subdisasters caused by earthquake, the authors as members of investigation group arranged by Ministry of Water Resources classified 4 levels of silt dams according to the degree of earthquake damages which were the most dangerous, the less-most dangerous, dangerous and the less dangerous, and analyzed the main reasons and indirect factors caused the damages of silt dams,by through field investigations and risk evaluations of damaged silt dams.Besides, based on different damaged types of silt dams, the corresponding measures were proposed for instance crack treatment, leakage prevention and collapse disposal.
