Abstract:The development of virtual reality technology has aroused the attention of archival institutions on the concept of "immersion". Based on the difference symbolic tools, "immersion" can be divided into two types: perceptual immersion and consciousness immersion. As a typical case of consciousness immersion, the May Massee Collection archival exhibition shows its advantages in optimizing the physical environment, project costs, and analysis of visit data, etc. As a typical representative of perceptual immersion, the Unfolding the Map archival exhibition presents the advantages of physical space, narrative routes and user experience. Through case analysis, it is concluded that the archival information service under the concept of immersion is not only related to technology, but also related to art. In addition, in terms of the effect of archival education, perceptual immersion and consciousness immersion have their own advantages and disadvantages in aspects of teachers' and students' attention, knowledge innovation absorption and learning concentration.
