Abstract: 【Purpose/significance】Information verification in the context of conflicting health information is a higher-level information processing activity that includes not only the evaluation of information, but may also the process of making an assessment of the user themselves. It is important to take the group of pregnant and postpartum women as an example to reveal the pattern of their information verification behavior in the context of conflicting health information, in order to enrich the research related to information verification behavior.【Method/process】The data from 29 maternal conflicting health information verification diaries and key event interviews were collected and analyzed, and the interview corpus was coded to finally analyze the motivations, behavioral patterns and association mechanisms of maternal groups in conflicting health information situations.【Result/conclusion】The study found that questioning is the primary motivation for verifying information in the context of conflicting health information, and the pregnant and postpartum women also verify information for reasons of curiosity, prejudice, regret, and socialization; the elements of information verification be⁃ havior in the context of conflicting health information include: searching; verifying; confirming; evaluating; and synthesizing, and there are different patterns of information verification behavior triggered by different motivations.【Innovation/limitation】Reveal the unique⁃ ness of information verification behaviors in the context of conflicting health information that differ from general information verifica⁃ tion behaviors. However, for information verification behaviors driven by multiple motivators, it is difficult for qualitative research to pinpoint exactly which motivator plays a major role, and this can be further explored in subsequent studies in conjunction with quanti⁃ tative research.
