Abstract: 【Purpose/significance】Exposure to rumor-refuting information does not imply acceptance of it. The study of the main fac⁃ tors and related paths influencing users' acceptance of government rumor-refuting information in the context of epidemic prevention and control, will help the precise combat of online rumors.【Method/process】A vulnerability theory-based theoretical model was de⁃ veloped to investigate the psychology and behavior of users toward the acceptance of government rumor-refuting information in the context of the prevention and control. The analysis of the influencing factors and configuration is conducted by fuzzy-set qualitative comparative analysis based on questionnaire data.【Result/conclusion】The study discovered three types of influencing factors of ac⁃ ceptance of government rumor-refuting information: social support, social support-rumor discrimination ability, and rumor discrimina⁃ tion ability. The main factors influencing the acceptance of government rumor-refuting information are dynamic pressure, information anxiety, social support, and rumor discrimination ability.【Innovation/limitation】This study uses the fuzzy-set qualitative comparative analysis to reveal the joint influence mechanism and realization path of various core factors influencing the acceptance of government rumor-refuting information. Subsequent research can compare the differences in the pathways influencing users' acceptance of govern⁃ ment rumor-refuting information at different stages of the epidemic.
