Abstract: 【Purpose/significance】Think tank evaluation is an important part of think tank research. Both domestic and overseas think tank evaluation practice has made great achievements, but theoretically, an authoritative and unified standard of this evaluation has not formed yet. Since the practice goes far beyond the theoretical research, the analysis and induction of domestic and foreign think tank evaluation practice cases will contribute to the progress of think tank evaluation theory.【Method/process】This paper takes rele⁃ vant literature and cases in the field of think tank evaluation at home and abroad as the research object, and summarizes and visually analyzes the literature and cases from the aspects of release time, discipline, keyword distribution and evaluation characteristics, etc. Given their method, evaluation systems, evaluation subjects, evaluation objects, and their respective characteristics and innovative points, this paper makes classification of qualitative and quantitative researches, giving a chronological review. 【Result/conclusion】 By summarizing the methods and characteristics of think tank evaluation at home and abroad, this paper discusses the characteristics and deficiencies of think tank evaluation researches at home and abroad, proposing some strategies to promote the development of the theoretical researches and practice of think tank evaluation.【Innovation/limitation】These strategies provide references for the forma⁃ tion of more scientific and objective evaluation reports in the evaluation field of think tanks in my country.
