Abstract: 【Purpose/significance】This study examines the impact of member interactions within open innovation communities on cre⁃ ative knowledge construction from an argumentative standpoint. Its goal is to identify patterns and effects of argumentation within these interactions to improve interaction efficiency and foster sustainable, healthy community development.【Method/process】Using online posts from the Salesforce creative community as the data source, the study employs content analysis and sequential pattern mining to reveal group interaction patterns. It measures creative knowledge construction levels using text analysis and social network analysis, and validates the model via regression analysis, accounting for argumentation patterns, diversity of argumentation elements, and redun⁃ dancy.【Result/conclusion】The study identifies three types of argumentative interactions within open innovation communities: origin, divergence and derivation. Derivational argumentation is found to more effectively facilitate creative knowledge construction. Arguing that elemental diversity is positively correlated with creative knowledge construction. Argumentation redundancy exhibits an inverted “U”shaped relationship with knowledge construction. Emotion positively moderates the impact of divergent patterns on knowledge construction and also inhibits the inverse U-shaped relationship between argumentation element redundancy and knowledge construc⁃ tion.【Innovation/limitation】This research draws on conversational argumentation theory to examine how group interaction influences creative knowledge construction. It utilizes a mixed-methods approach for empirical testing within the Salesforce creative community. Future studies should leverage automated tools for annotating and extracting argumentative elements.
