《ISAD(G)：General International Standard Archival Description》is the archival standard which has become one of the most important and widely accepted initiatives in the international archival community. The paper analyzes the main descriptive rules、characteristics and revelations of ISAD(G). Then the paper point outs 《Chinese Professional Standard - DA/T18-1999 China Archival Description Rules》should be revised as soon as possible according to ISAD(G) and the Chinese archival descriptive system should be established, which is the pressing task for the Chinese archivists.
