With the wide use of social media in various public agencies, Chinese governments are increasingly adopting these new tools to spread government information and offer public services. When it comes to the issue of governmental social media archiving, however, our national archives has not paid enough attention on it comparing with that of foreign countries such as UK, USA and Australia. By employing the literature study and the comparison study, the research tries to understand how these foreign countries’ agencies archive social media content as a new type of electronic records, which can be an inspiration for our government social media records archiving and accessing.
