The writing process of Zhao Mingcheng compiled Postscript of Chinshihiu reflects his systemic and rich ideology of archival and historical materials. Starting with the Postscript of Chinshihiu, this article makes an intensive study for his thoughts. It summarizes and expounds his thought of archival materials from aspects of collection, arrangement, safekeeping, identification, description, compilation, utilization and so on. As a word, the thought of archival and historical materials is still an important inspiration on today’s archival works which is worth us learning and referencing.
