Abstract Ecosystem service compensation is a hot topic in China.This paper summarized the concept of ecosystem service compensation.The status of ecosystem service compensation in China and foreign countries was analyzed.It was indicated that the calculation methods of ecosystem service value are not perfect.How to determine the scientific and reasonable compensation standards are very important problem.Compensation standards for different ecosystem service value in different regions should be researched.
