Abstract The evaluation on the design of the project is fundamental for the working out a program of soil and water conservation.The purpose of the evaluation is to further study the project site,the layout and construction design from the view of soil and water conservation,and to estimate the potential soil erosion and its negative impact on eco-environment.Based on features of Wuhuashan reservoir project,the following five aspects of evaluation were focused in this papers.1) the feasibility study of the recommended program and the layout rationality of the project.2) the rationality analysis on exploitation and temporary keeping sites selection for construction materials.3) the analysis on quantity of discarded materials.4) the verification of measures for meeting soil and water conservation targets by analysis of construction timing,and the potential soil erosion location,period and construction links.5) the assessment of individual parts designed in main project according to soil and water conservation norm.
