Suggestions on prevention and control of water pollution in Huaisha River

Abstract:The water quality in Huaisha River was investigated and corresponding countermeasures were proposed. Results showed that the water of Huaisha River has been severely eutrophicated. The main
pollutants are TN and TP. In most sections, TN is much higher than grade V standard of water environment, and TP is higher than Ⅲ class standard. Water environment of the river basin on the whole
is evaluated as Ⅴ standard, and the quality of water resources is severely eutrophicated, far from reaching the second class standard of water environment planning requirements. The orresponding
countermeasures are put forward: to continue the environment protection and control measures; to increase the construction of clean small watersheds; to detect in time the potential factors of pollution; to take strict management measures; to increase publicity of water environment protection laws and regulations, raising public awareness of environmental protection; to strengthen law enforcement efforts, increasing the cost of law breaking; and to strengthen water quality monitoring and protection work. The result has significant value of reference to the construction of small clean watersheds.
