Abstract:Vegetation ecosystems in Western Ordos Plateau are endangered and measures should be taken to protect from further disturbance urgently. In this article, taking Wuhai for example, based on GIS(geographic information system),the vegetation distribution pattern was analysed using CCA(Canonical correspondence analysis),and landscape indexs was used to detect the relation between vegetation and environmental factors. The results show that the distribution of vegetation in Wuhai is closely related to the environment and the geomorphic type and soil have more influence than the elevation and slope which is large scale environmental factors on the distribution of vegetation in Wuhai. It is observed that integration of ordination with GIS is an alternative ways to get better understanding of environmental impacts on vegetation pattern, which will be helpful to make more effective protection strategy to these endangered vegetation ecosystem.
