Treatment and prevention of acute radiation-induced vaginal injury in cervical cancer

Abstract  Concurrent chemoradiotherapy is the main treatment for locally advanced cervical cancer, and the incidence of vaginal injury is inevitable after radiotherapy. However, insufficient attention has been paid to the treatment and prevention of acute radiation-induced vaginal injury. Therefore, the mechanism, treatment and prevention of acute vaginal side effects after radiotherapy in cervical cancer were reviewed in this article, aiming to reduce the incidence of vaginal injury, complete the course of radiotherapy and improve the quality of life.
