Abstract The litter and moss' s effect on soil and water conservation and environment protection have been generalized in this paper. The most of the research results show that the litter and moss on forest stands have certain process in preserving precipitation, conserving surface runoff, increasing surface roughness and improving the soil property. Some results also show that some moss can be used to indicate the change of the environment.
