Abstract Based on the comprehensive review and comment of benefit assessment theory and method of forest resources, and using the theories of forest ecology and environmental economics, the index system to evaluate comprehensive benefits of forest resources was proposed in combination with field survey,investigation and consultation, analytic methods and computational models were established taking advantage of the market value method, and alternative hypothetical market assessment techniques as well as the comprehensive benefits of forest resources in Youyu County were evaluated. The results show thatwood value and product out put value of forests in Youyu County are 6.83*10 8 and 1.91*10 8yuan/arespectively. Value of forest ecological benefits is 3.45*10 9 yuan/a. Social benefit of forest is 3. 90*10 8yuan/a. The proportion of values of the economic, ecological and social benefits of forest resources iscalculated as 1.00:18.03:2.04.
