Abstract The interception characteristics of nine typical forest stands in Luohanya forest farm of Mountain Tai were studied. The results showed that very good linear relationship existed between through rainfall in stand and open field rainfall. There was a good logarithmic relationship between interception and open field rainfall. The interception capacity of the nine forest stands decreased in the order of Acer mono,Quercus acutissima+Pinus thunbergii,15a Quercus acutissima,50a Quercus acutissima,Pistacia chinensis,Pistacia chinensis+Robinia pseudoacacia,Platycladus orientalis, and Pinus thunbergii. The stemflow capacity dropped in the order of 15a Quercus acutissima,50a Quercus acutissima,Pistacia chinensis,Acer mono,Pinus thunbergii 15a Quercus acutissima,50a Quercus acutissima,Pistacia chinensis,Acer mono,Pinus thunbergii,Robinia pseudoacacia,Platycladus orientalis,Robinia pseudoacacia,Platycladus orientalis. In general, critical value of open field rainfall for produced through rainfall in stand of various forest stands was 6.28mm.
