Abstract Biological embankment protection technique combined with soil and water conservation,eco-rehabilitation and water purification science have become a focus research item in home and abroad.This paper simply generalized the developing progress,discussed the protecting principle of biological embankment protection.And main types and their applicability were also introduced.Considering China's present condition most of problems existing in biological embankment protection researches in home and abroad were analyzed.
