Abstract The wind velocity variation of different slope directions at coal gangue piles in Sunjiawan was studied with field measurement and statistical analysis.The results showed that the wind velocity of sunny slope(exceeds)shade slope in all growing season to same dumping years.The weakening coefficient of wind velocity to plot A in sunny slope is under 13.67% by plot A in shady slope.The order of wind velocity from big to small is arranged from May,June,July,September,to August.Southwest and southern winds are prevailing in the growth season.
