Abstract In order to sum up the development of soil quality evaluation methods completely,some quantitative evaluation methods within recent years were summarized,including index method,model method,and method of Geographic Information System(GIS) and so on.Index method was relatively simple and practicable,and model method had obvious logicality and system.The evaluation method based on GIS was objective,and had greater potential capacity,and soil could be managed continuously with the dynamic monitoring method.In the future,to provide the basis for reasonable development and use of soil,the quantitative estimation and qualitative estimation should be combined in appraise of soil quality,the feasible indexes of soil quality should be selected,the existing appraised methods should be consummated constantly,and the predominance of information technique should be brought into play.
