Abstract The influence of land property rights on farmers' behaviors of soil and water conservation is examined. Based on farmer survey data, a logic model is established to explore the effect of land property rights on farmers' soil and water conservation decisions making and the parameters in the model are estimated with maximum likelihood estimation. The estimation results showed that farmers' decisions of soil and water conservation are remarkably affected by the right of transferring land within village, right of mortgage, land rent, farmers' perception of soil and water loss and regional difference.
