Abstract:The degree of the overlapping raindrop stains is a main factor influencing the accuracy evaluating the distribution of the raindrops. For the overlapping avoidance, a new sampler with a cover of cone frustum like was designed. A mathematical model for the sampler was established also. Therefore, an optimum cone type has been got, which was 52 mm high with a 45°slope angle and a 150 mm diameter circle top. It was proved on the same test conditions that the overlapping area of raindrop stains decreased by 60.6 mm2 and 42.0 mm2 for the median diameter of 4.2 mm raindrop and 1.7 mm raindrop respectively.
