Abstract In this paper, an effective method was proposed for rapid positioning and repair of medical Clinac and helical tomotherapy “GAS” interlock fault. The infrared refrigerant leakage detector was combined with soap bubbles for leakuseage detection. The sandpaper and file were utilized to gently grind the leakage point and the surrounding 5 mm-wide waveguide surface,and then the high-power electric soldering iron of 150 W was adopted to make up for the leakage. The leakage point was detected by rapid positioning,and no leakage was found in the waveguide after 12 years of use. This approach can significantly reduce the difficulty in the repair of the Clinac and helical tomotherapy"GAS" interlock fault.
