Abstract:

【Purpose/significance】The inundation of conflicting health information presents a severe challenge to the accurate and
comprehensive adoption of health information by older adults, such as vaccination. Investigating the influencing factors and mecha⁃
nism of the older adults' health information adoption in the context of conflicting health information aims to identify the three key fac⁃
tors of information, individuals, and society that affect the adoption of health information by the older adults, and provide theoretical
guidance and practical reference for policymakers, community workers, health professionals, and related researchers.【Method/pro⁃
cess】Based on the grounded theory, this paper collects data through in-depth one-on-one interviews, and constructs a model of influ⁃
encing factors and mechanism of the older adults' health information adoption in the context of conflicting health information through
open coding, spindle coding, selective coding and theoretical saturation testing.【Result/conclusion】The influencing factors of the
older adults' health information adoption in the context of conflicting health information mainly include informational factors (argu⁃
ment quality, source credibility), individual factors (attitude certainty, self-determination, negative emotions, health self-efficacy) and
social factors (conformity), and health self-efficacy can moderate the impact of argument quality, source credibility, attitude certainty,
self-determination, negative emotions, and conformity on the older adults' health information adoption.【Innovation/limitation】This
study provides theoretical references for academia to deeply understand the influencing factors and mechanism of health information
adoption by older adults in the context of conflicting health information. Limitations include potential subjective bias risks, sample size
and structural constraints, and a lack of statistical validation for the main constructs.
