In order to further promote the high-quality development of Science of Soil and Water Conservation（SSWC）, enhance the academic influence of the journal, and provide support and services for young scholars in the field of soil and water conservation, it is proposed to establish a Youth Editorial Board when the Editorial Board of SSWC is being re-elected. We sincerely invite outstanding young scholars in the field of soil and water conservation to join the Youth Editorial Board, and the relevant matters are hereby listed as follows:
1 Number of Youth Editorial Board Members
Around 50
2 Requirements to Be a Member in Youth Editorial Board
2.1 Being under the age of 45 (born after January 1, 1978), with a doctorate degree and a title of associate senior professional title or above.
2.2 Having profound academic achievements, rigorous academic attitude, and no academic misconduct.
2.3 Preference will be given to those who preside over national-level projects, and have achieved major research results, strong ability to organize and write manuscripts.
Young scholars who meet the above requirements may recommend by themselves, or be recommended by a person with a senior professional title or Committee for Transformation of Scientific and Technological Achievements and Youth Work in the Chinese Society of Soil and Water Conservation.
3 Rights for Youth Editorial Board Members
3.1 The appointment certificates will be issued to the Youth Editorial Board members after being selected, and the term for each appointment will last 4 years.
3.2 Youth Editorial Board members who have made outstanding contributions can be given priority to be hired as the next editorial board member of the journal.
3.3 A member may have better academic publishing services, and the excellent manuscripts written or recommended by the member can be published at high priority after peer review.
3.4 Information about Youth Editorial Board members can be published on the SSWC s official media platform (WeChat official account), to publicize their research results and enhance their academic influences.
3.5 The published fee for a Youth Editorial Board member as the first author of a manuscript may be exempted in each term of 4 years.
4 Obligations for Youth Editorial Board Members
4.1 Conduct the SSWC’s policy, the resolutions of the Editorial Board and the Youth Editorial Board. And participate in the meetings and activities of the Youth Editorial Board.
4.2 Actively write articles for the SSWC organize and recommend high-level manuscripts, publish at least 2 academic papers in the SSWC as the first author during each term of 4 years, or plan and organize 1 special issue (or column) with at least 5 articles on the topic.
4.3 Conscientiously complete the review tasks assigned by the Editorial Department on time, and actively recommend experts in related majors and emerging disciplines as reviewers.
4.4 Discover outstanding talents in various disciplines and actively support academically creative authors.
4.5 Collect the opinions and suggestions from readers, authors and himself/herself on the quality improvement of SSWC and the work of the Editorial Department or give feedbacks on them.
4.6 Be enthusiastic about SSWC development, academic dissemination, etc., and actively publicize SSWC.
5 Application and Selection
5.1 Application by email
Fill in the form of “Basic Information of a Youth Editorial Board Member" (See the attachment). And send the word version of the form and the signed scanned copy to the email address: sbxh035@263.net. The subject of the email is “Application for A Youth Editorial Board Member - Name". Application deadline: September 30, 2023. Call 010-62338031 in case of any issue.
5.2 Selection process
The application materials passed in the preliminary review by the Editorial Department of SSWC are submitted to the Editor-in-Chief, the secretariat of the Chinese Society of Soil and Water Conservation, and the Working Committee for Academic Exchange, Journal and Science and Technology Award in the Chinese Society of Soil and Water Conservation for selection. The selected results will be released after reviewed and approved by the secretary-general's work meeting and the chairman's office meeting and the standing council meeting of the Chinese Society of Soil and Water Conservation. The working meeting of establishing Youth Editorial Board will be held and appointment certificates will be awarded.
