Election of 4th Editorial Board and First Meeting of New Board Held in Beijing

On April 9, 4th editorial board for Science of Soil and Water Conservation was elected, and the first meeting of 4th editorial board were held in Beijing. The Secretary General of Chinese Society of Soil and Water Conservation, Professor Wu Bing attended the meeting and addressed the opening speech. Total 36 experts, mainly from the institutions of higher education and scientific research organizations on the fields of the soil and water conservation and desertification control, attended the meeting.
   

Deputy Editor-in-Chief, Professor Zhu Qingke systematically sorted and summarized the work of 3rd editorial board by the title of “Pioneering and Innovating While Devote Ourselves to Diligent Working” as below 3 parts:

1)      During the 4 years of 3rd editorial board from 2012 to 2016, the members of editorial board and their affiliations earnestly performed their duties and ensured authority of the journal, and made the journal be recognized by domestic authoritative periodical evaluation systems including Chinese Science Citation Database(CSCD), A Guide to the Core Journals of China by Peking University Press, and the Key Magazine of China Technology.

2)      Concurrently, the editorial board were committed to strengthening the construction of the journal’s columns, optimizing the process of manuscripts, and improving the English in the articles; and the number of readers and authors as well as international influence have been constantly expanding while ensuring the healthy operation of the journal.

3)      Finally, he expects that the new editorial board will be further strengthening the sources of manuscripts, and playing a greater role in improving the overall level of the journal and promoting healthy development of the journal.

Secretary General Wu Bin announced the names of 4th editorial board, and issued the appointment letter to Professor Zhou Xincheng as the Editor-in-Chief of the journal. Then Editor-in-Chief, Professor Zhou Xincheng issued the appointment letters to the Associate Editors-in-Chief and the members of the editorial board. Professor Zhou Xincheng presented a keynote speech of "Characterizing the Journal by Innovation and Change", in which the following aspects were discussed: the purpose of this journal and the planning of columns, optimizing the journal mode, strengthening the ideology of having experts in the operation of the journal, and promoting the digitalization of the journal while actively using the Internet+ platforms etc.
         

Editor-in-Chief of journal of Chinese Science, Dr. Ren Shengli had an inspirational speech with the title of "Some Thoughts on How to Run an Academic Journal with High Influence”. Delegates in the meeting also discussed the following aspects such as the orientation of the journal, the setting of columns, and the process of reviewing manuscripts.

In the first working panel in the afternoon, Editor-in-Chief and 7 Deputy Editors-in-Chief openly discussed and fully exchanged the opinions on the aspects such as grouping of reviewing manuscripts among the members of 4th editorial board, arranging the editorial works, optimizing the process of the peer review, extending the scope and channels of manuscripts, and defining the future development direction of the journal.
