Abstract Soil erosion is serious in China, the Party and country attaches great importance to the work of soil and water conservation. It is not a large empty topic, and is closely related to our daily lives. In this study, we discussed the impact of soil and water conservation on people’s lives, from the four aspects of “food safety, drinking water safety, economic development, and human living environment”. The results showed that the soil and water conservation work could help to ensure the food security and water security of a region, was conducive to enhance the regional economic development, and improved regional living environment. That could lay the theoretical foundation for putting forward and developing the “livelihood of soil and water conversation”.
