Abstract Based on the extraordinarily serious disaster of flash flood and debris flow in Zhouqu County in Gansu Province on August 7,2010 and the experiences of torrent classification and dangerous zone mapping in Beijing,the author showed that the high attention should be paid to take the integrated measures for torrent control.Some suggestions are put forward to strengthen the control of flash flood and debris flow.
