Value evaluation of forest ecosystem services of Qilian mountain in Gansu province |

Abstract In order to cause the attention of society and people to the forest ecosystem, and advance the ecological environment conservation in the Northwest China, value of the forest ecosystem services of Qilian mountain in Gansu province were evaluated by using the methods of shadow engineering, market price, substitution expenditure, opportunity-cost, capitalized returns, and so on. The results indicate that the annual general forest ecosystem service value in this area amount to 2430 million yuan (Chinese RMB), of which, 930 million yuan for storing water, 564 million yuan for soil conservation, 26.91 million yuan for carbon dioxide fixation and oxygen production, 741 million yuan for air purification, 151 million yuan for biodiversity protection and 16.88 million yuan for forest landscape and tourism.
