Abstract There are serious soil erosion problems in Beijing mountain area, where floods and debris floods happen frequently . Prevention and control areas of soil erosion in Beijing have been divided into three parts: Prevention and Protection areas, Monitoring areas and Control areas, based on protection purposes, soil erosion intensity and potential erosion danger, with technologies of GIS. The strategy for soil erosion prevention and control is suggested.
