Abstract:

【Purpose/significance】This paper studied the influencing factors of self-disclosure intention of health anxiety among col⁃
lege student as social network users. It contributes to the field of health information disclosure. It provides references to improve the in⁃
formation service quality of mental health information service providers and social network platforms so that health anxiety can be alle⁃
viated.【Method/process】Using the qualitative research method, it conducted the semi-structured interviews of 20 college social net⁃
work users with health anxiety. The interview data were coded and analyzed by employing the grounded theory. The extracted influenc⁃
ing factors of willingness were combined with the literature review to construct a conceptual model. Then the questionnaire survey was
employed. Hierarchical regression analysis was performed to test the proposed hypotheses.
Result/conclusion】 For college students
as social network users, the degree of trust, perceived benefits and health anxiety level all positively affect the self-disclosure intention
of health anxiety, and the perceived risk negatively affects the intention. The level of parental health anxiety information disclosure
positively moderates the relationship between perceived benefits and the self-disclosure intention. The countermeasures and sugges⁃
tions were put forward.【Innovation/limitation】 This paper reveals the influencing factors and mechanisms of the self-disclosure inten⁃
tion of health anxiety. However, the study was mainly conducted in the previous prevention and control phase of COVID-19. It did not
explore the changes in the self-disclosure intention of health anxiety after transitioning to the normalized phase.
