Abstract:

【Purpose/significance】The wide application of ontology in information sharing and knowledge management requires a more
efficient and multi-source ontology development method. Ontology evolution can discover ontology knowledge automatically or semiautomatically from various forms of data, which can overcome the bottleneck of acquiring ontology knowledge in ontology development. Most of the traditional ontology evolution methods are based on unstructured text resources, which require cumbersome and complex natural language processing. In this paper, a domain ontology evolution model based on Nanopublication is proposed to realize domain ontology evolution.【Method/process】 On the basis of recognizing the characteristics of Nanopublication, the domain-related Nanopub⁃lications are acquired through the Nanopub Monitor, and the domain ontology elements are extracted using linguistics and machine learning methods, and then matched with the initial ontology elements to realize the evolution of ontology. The ontology evolution model of "data acquisition - element matching - ontology change" is formed.【Result/conclusion】 In this paper, the agricultural ma⁃chinery domain is taken as an example. Based on the initial ontology, the ontology evolution model is used to realize the evolution of the domain ontology, and the agricultural machinery domain ontology is constructed to improve the efficiency of domain ontology evolu⁃tion.【Innovation/limitation】The evolution of domain ontology is limited by the number of nanopublications in the domain.
