Abstract:

【Purpose/significance】Knowledge diffusion reflects the transmission, inheritance, application and innovation of knowledge.
Revealing the characteristics of book knowledge diffusion will help to grasp the value of knowledge contained in books and select ex⁃
cellent books.【Method/process】This research takes books in the field of library, information and digital library as the research object,
takes citation author as the data source, and defines four indicators: the book diffusion breadth, the book diffusion depth, the book dif⁃
fusion speed and the book diffusion indictor to analyze the characteristics of book knowledge diffusion from the micro-perspective.【Re⁃
sult/conclusion】The results show that: ①The measurement values of the four indicators are unevenly distributed. Most books have low
measurement values, while a few books have high measurement values. ② The four indicators can be used to quantify the value of
books, but the measurement results are different because of their different emphasis.【Innovation/limitation】The innovation of this arti⁃
cle lies in the definition of four book knowledge diffusion measurement indicators and the discussion of the characteristics of book
knowledge diffusion. The limitation lies in the single empirical sample, the limitation of CCD database, the motivation of citation, etc.
The scope of the sample needs to be expanded and combined with citation behavior (positive, negative and neutral) and other methods
to make up for the limitations of the research.
