Abstract:

【Purpose/significance】The objectivity and reasonability of the computing methods of academic influence play an important
role in evaluating the research capabilities of scientific and technological talents, academic organizations, countries.【Method/process】
Existing methods usually use the number of papers published by scholars and the total citation frequency for measuring the academic
influence. Although these methods are simple to calculate, they are relatively rough, which makes the evaluation results controversial
because of implying unfair and unreasonable phenomena. In order to solve the above problems, this paper designs a method of automat⁃
ically computing scholars’academic influence (ACSAI) by constructing the relationship network of scholars and papers, from the per⁃
spectives of the quantity and quality of the papers published by scholars, as well as the scholars citing the papers.【Result/conclusion】
This method makes comprehensive use of the advantages of citation analysis and peer review, and eliminates the constraints of peo⁃
ple's subjective feelings. In addition, compared with h-index method, it not only improves the discrimination, but also breaks the limi⁃
tation of the number of papers published by a scholar, making the calculation results more reasonable and easy to implement.【Innova⁃
tion/limitation】In this paper, the academic contributions of the collaborators to the paper are treated equally, and the contribution mea⁃
sures of the collaborators to the paper will be distinguished in subsequent studies, so as to better match the real contributions of the au⁃
thors.
